For Electron Beam Welding an electron beam of high energy density is needed. Correspondingly both the anode voltage and the power  delivered by the power supply has to be appropriately high. Typical values are 10 - 50 kW at voltages between 100 and 200 kV. For focussing and bending of the electron beam, auxiliary voltage sources must be provided.

The electron beam hits the material to be welded in a vacuum chamber, heating it up and melting it. This method makes it possible to join together materials which can't be welded together by any other way.
